Outside there is an expansive yard with views of the mountainside, the forest, and the ridge. The yard holds beautiful fruit trees, flowers and landscaping. You can see a panoramic mountain vista with views for miles. There is a spring fed pond and a path to a small cabin just 1-minute walk from the house. The log cabin is an earlier 1800 era style with a fireplace, and fun to explore. You’re welcome to camp out in it if you have some adventurous ones in your group, or just a visit. There is also a period style carriage house and antique shed all to help your stay feel of a distant era.
The house sits on 65 private acres of forested land. There are several private hiking trails that take you up the mountainside, to mountain streams and even the ruins of the old coal mine. You can spend lots of time out in nature exploring the ridge or cozy up next to one of the fireplaces with a book. You can enjoy cooking a tasty meal or sit back and watch a movie. You could try fishing (fishing rods/basic gear provided), swimming in the pond, or rocking on the front porch swing. You could enjoy the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, or just stargaze into the wondrous country night sky and find the constellations (far away from the city lights).
This is a special place that makes for a wonderful getaway, family vacations, family reunions, friend trips, a Chattanooga vacation with a country twist, or a home base for nature expeditions.
If you are coming to Whitwell to Hang glide or Paraglide– this is the perfect place to stay with your crew. The house is situated so you can see the gliders up high in their prime spot all around the takeoff.
